On Sun Street the past and the future stand side by side – the formal symmetry of Georgian architecture that forms the frontage of Sun Street Hotel, and the stunning, prismatic towers of One Crown Place – a combination of brand-new luxury residences and high-quality office space overlooking the bustling Courtyard between the old and the new.
The six Georgian houses that form the front of Sun Street Hotel – conceived by the renowned architect George Dance the Younger in the 1800s – speak of a quieter age, while the ever-changing skyline around us is indicative of the buzzing, thriving, international city that London has become.
Your eye will be constantly drawn to the extravagantly beautiful, tactile materials and décor. Natural limestone and marble contrast with chic, contemporary light fittings and glazed porcelain. Sumptuous colours and fascinating artworks adorn the walls of the Hotel.
One Crown comprises 246 apartments, offices, retail, hotel and restaurant in a new destination for London straddling the historic City of London and Shoreditch. It has been developed by Malaysian infrastructure Conglomerate MTD Group and designed by award-winning architectural practice Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates (KPF).
One Crown Place sets a new standard of living, with its innovative architecture and quality of interior design. Apartments have been designed by Bowler James Brindley while Studio Ashby has designed a world-class suite of amenities and penthouses. Forming part of the vibrant development, a boutique hotel occupies a fully restored Georgian terrace on Sun Street, which is operated by Bespoke Hotels.
MTD Group is a multinational infrastructure-based company headquartered in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The group has a strong international presence with investment portfolios in properties and real estate, civil engineering and construction, manufacturing of precast related products, infrastructure concessions and operations and maintenance.
MTD Group is an experienced player in the property development sector on Malaysian and overseas fronts. MTD Group re-entered the London real estate and property market in June 2013, when it acquired One Crown Place from Sun Street Properties Ltd, a unit of UBS, through a bidding process. In 2015, the group received unanimous approval from the London Borough of Hackney Planning Committee on its plans to redevelop One Crown Place in London EC2. The development was seen to be providing benefits to Shoreditch including new jobs and workspaces, additional housing provision including affordable homes as well as creating a brand-new destination for this part of London.
