Street Art Tour, what started it all

Sun Street Hotel sits in the middle of one of the world's most concentrated outdoor art galleries, you just need someone to show you where to look. The Alternative London street art tour has been doing exactly that since 2010, led by working street artists who know these walls because they've painted them.

Why Shoreditch

The street art scene here did not emerge from nowhere. Shoreditch in the 1990s was cheap, post-industrial and largely ignored — the kind of place where a young artist could rent a studio and paint a wall without anyone much caring. The Bangladeshi community on Brick Lane brought muralism and colour; the music venues and galleries that followed attracted artists from across the world; the walls that those artists left behind attracted more artists and a reputation built itself gradually into something globally recognised.

The Artists You'll See
The route changes regularly as new work appears and older pieces disappear that impermanence is part of what makes street art honest. But certain artists have a consistent presence in the neighbourhood, and any given tour is likely to encounter work by several of the following:
ROA, Stik, Invader, Shepard Fairey / OBEY, Vhils, Connor Harrington, C215, Phlegm, Jimmy C, Banksy.
